چکیده

Background: A chronic interstitial disease, kidney disease of uncertain etiology (CKDu), has emerged as a notable contributor to the CKD burden in rural Sri Lanka. Most therapeutic and diagnostic approaches focus on glomerular diseases, thus are not fully applicable CKDu. Serum proteins, specifically those with profile markers representing different facets beneficial for comprehensive evaluation hence CKD. Our aim was identify role serum-retinol-binding protein 4 (RBP4), marker proximal tubule, diagnosis Methods: Definite CKDu cases were recruited from renal clinic Girandurukotte Wilgamuwa (endemic regions). Healthy controls Mandaramnuwara (nonendemic area). The levels RBP4 creatinine serum measured. An immunoassay (ELISA) performed samples. stages CKD/ classified according eGFR. Results: significantly increased patients compared healthy controls. results show that ratio normalized creatine (S.cr) acts better competitive (AUC 0.762, sensitivity 0.733) than 0.584, when against Furthermore, RBP4:S.cr showed higher discriminating power 0.743) between CKD, suggesting RBP4: S.cr potential differentiate Conclusion: identified plausible indicator differentiating >70% specificity. Therefore, it could be used tubular involvement

Serum NF-κBp65, TLR4 as Biomarker for Diagnosis of Preeclampsia

The aim of this study was to evaluate the serum NF-κBp65, TLR4 (Toll-like receptor 4) expression in patients of preeclampsia and its diagnostic value as biomarkers. Methods Thirty patients with preeclampsia (case group) and 30 normal pregnant women (control group) were included in this study. The serum level of NF-κBp65 and TLR4 were examined by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), and ...

An auxiliary method for diagnosis of cancer.

Many auxiliary methods for malignant tumour diagnosis have been reported hitherto, but very few of them are known to have easy process and high probability. As to the sedimentation rate of erythrocytes the following fact is generally recognized. Even when it is abnormally rapid, add some citrate solution to the fresh blood just taken out and lay it un touched for various hours and puts it into ...

Can Prostate Specific Antigen Be Used as New Biomarker for Early Diagnosis of Breast Cancer?

Introduction: As a glycoprotein, Plasma Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) is mainly produced by prostate epithelial cells and is used as a major diagnostic tool for prostate cancer. A group of researchers relate the elevated number of estrogen receptors in breast cancer samples to the over-production of PSA in this type of cancer. Therefore, the present study aimed to determine the participants' ...

Serum and Saliva Myelin Basic Protein as Multiple Sclerosis Biomarker

Objective: Multiple sclerosis (MS) is presented with motor and sensory function loss. It is caused by demyelination and following axonal lesion. As myelin basic protein (MBP) is one of the key elements of the myelin cover, we examined the level of MBP in serum, stimulated, and unstimulated saliva as a suitable biomarker for detecting MS. Methods: A case-control study was performed in 29 health...

RBP4 and THBS2 are serum biomarkers for diagnosis of colorectal cancer

The potential role of serum RBP4 and THBS2 as biomarker in colorectal cancer (CRC) diagnosis has never been studied. We investigated in large sample using quantitative ELISA method to explore whether serum RBP4 and THBS2 can act as biomarkers for CRC diagnosis. The concentration of RBP4 and THBS2 was measured in 402 CRC patients' serum samples and 218 normal controls' serum samples. The results...
